This assessment is a great introduction to neurotherapy and can identify biomarkers for conditions such as ADHD, anxiety and trauma. You will come in for an initial 1 hour testing session where our technician will analyze the electrical activity of your brain. These readings will be analyzed and compared to a clinical database that can identify certain biomarkers that correlate with mental health conditions such as trauma, ADHD, depression, and anxiety. A report will be prepared detailing your brainwave patterns and any areas of concern. This report will be shared with you in a follow-up appointment where you will receive recommendations and a treatment plan for improving your brain function based on your individual results. During this follow-up appointment, you will also receive your first session of neurofeedback. This assessment is best suited for adults and children over the age of 12.

The QEEG assessment provides a detailed picture of the brain's electrical activity by recording and analyzing the brainwaves produced by different regions of the brain using 19 electrode placements. This can help identify areas of over- or under-activity in the brain, which may be related to a variety of complex brain health issues including, cognitive impairment, autonomic nervous system dysfunction, and neurological conditions, such as traumatic brain injury and Long Covid.

By providing a comprehensive view of the brain's activity, a QEEG assessment can help healthcare professionals better understand the root causes of complex brain health issues and develop more effective treatment plans. In addition, a QEEG assessment can also provide insights into brain function that may not be apparent through other forms of assessment, such as psychological testing or neuroimaging. This makes it an especially useful tool for individuals who may be struggling with complex brain health issues that are difficult to diagnose or treat using other methods.

Despite forays into such things as academia, early learning and mindfulness, holding space for others to heal has always been my calling. While I have academic credentials that include undergraduate degrees in sociology and social work, a Master’s degree in Social work, and a PhD …as well as specialized training in neurofeedback, EMDR, play therapy, and mindfulness, my most meaningful learning has come from over 20 years of listening to people’s stories. Throughout my career, I have always struggled with the negative stigma of mental health and the persistent false dichotomy of mental and physical health when everything I ‘know’ suggests that much of what we struggle with really is all in our head – in our brain, to be more specific. Neurofeedback has confirmed for me that many of our ‘psychological conditions’ originate in the brain and therefore can be healed or unlearned in the brain. Seeing this revealed on the computer screen during a session often releases individuals from the negative self-perceptions they have adopted to cope with society’s tendency to blame and shame individuals for their health challenges.
